ImageGlass License Terms

ImageGlass comes in two editions: Classic, free and open source under the GPLv3, and Pro, the paid edition that adds advanced workflow and admin tools. Pro uses trust-based licensing, with no account, no device lock, and no intrusive DRM.

ImageGlass Classic License Agreement

This document sets out the license terms for ImageGlass Classic (the "Software"), the free and open-source edition of the ImageGlass desktop image viewer, authored by Duong Dieu Phap (the "Author").

ImageGlass is copyright (c) 2010 - 2026 by Duong Dieu Phap.

ImageGlass Classic is licensed to everyone under the GNU General Public License, Version 3 (GPLv3). This agreement explains how that license applies to ImageGlass Classic. The GPLv3 is the governing license: if anything in this summary differs from the GPLv3, the full text of the GPLv3 controls. The full text is available at https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html.

1. Definitions

  • "ImageGlass" means the ImageGlass desktop image viewer application authored by Duong Dieu Phap.
  • "Classic" means ImageGlass Classic, the free edition of ImageGlass licensed under the GPLv3.
  • "Pro" means ImageGlass Pro, the official paid edition of ImageGlass, licensed separately under its own commercial terms.
  • "GPLv3" means the GNU General Public License, Version 3, published by the Free Software Foundation.

2. License Grant

  • 2.1. ImageGlass Classic is free software. It is provided at no cost and may be used for both personal and commercial purposes under the terms of the GPLv3.
  • 2.2. Under the GPLv3 you are free to run, study, modify, and redistribute the Software and its source code, provided you comply with the conditions of the GPLv3. Those conditions include keeping the same GPLv3 license on copies and derivative works you distribute, preserving copyright and license notices, and making the corresponding source code available to those who receive a distributed copy.
  • 2.3. Using ImageGlass Classic does not require an account, a payment, an activation server, or any registration.
  • 2.4. This agreement does not grant any additional rights beyond, nor impose any additional restrictions on top of, the GPLv3. Your rights in the Software come from the GPLv3 itself.

3. Source Code

The complete source code for ImageGlass is publicly available at https://github.com/d2phap/ImageGlass under the GPLv3. You may obtain, review, build, and modify it in accordance with that license. The companion ImageGlass.SDK is available under the MIT License for building external tools, plugins, and codecs.

4. Relationship to ImageGlass Pro

ImageGlass Classic is a complete, modern image viewer, not a limited trial. ImageGlass Pro is the official paid edition that adds an advanced workflow and administration layer on top of the same viewer, and it is licensed separately under its own commercial terms. Nothing in this agreement requires you to purchase Pro, and Classic remains fully usable, including for commercial use, under the GPLv3.

5. Trademarks

The ImageGlass name and logo are trademarks of Duong Dieu Phap. The GPLv3 grants rights in the software and its source code, but it does not grant any right to use the ImageGlass name or logo. Written permission must be obtained from the Author prior to using the ImageGlass name or logo in any distributed works, including in the name or branding of a modified version.

6. Disclaimer of Warranty

As stated in the GPLv3, there is no warranty for the Software, to the extent permitted by applicable law. ImageGlass and its documentation are provided "as is" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the Software is with you, the user. Should the Software prove defective, you assume the cost of all necessary servicing, repair, or correction.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the Author, or anyone else who has been involved in the creation, development, production, or delivery of this software, be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of the use or inability to use the Software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

8. General

  • 8.1. The GPLv3 is the full and governing license for ImageGlass Classic, and this agreement is a plain-language summary of how it applies. In the event of any conflict, the GPLv3 text prevails.
  • 8.2. If any provision of this summary is held to be unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions, together with the GPLv3, will stay in full force.
  • 8.3. For any question about ImageGlass Classic or its licensing, contact the Author through https://imageglass.org/support.
